"Before The Olive Guardians got involved, we were just a handful of interpreters and interpreting students in a group chat with a couple Deaf Gallaudet students, trying to show up to protests and interpret when we could. Since Ranem and The Olive Guardians have gotten involved, the movement has grown and strengthened. We are now a chapter of The Olive Guardians, and with their guidance are developing best practices and standard processes to make sure quality access is provided without burning out the team. Once word got out that you could count on interpreters, the student movement grew exponentially, involving other members of the Deaf community, participating in the GW encampment, and making waves at Gallaudet.
